akistan’s star fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, is on the verge of making his much-awaited return to the national T20 squad for the upcoming West Indies tour, marking a significant development for the Pakistan cricket team.
The 25-year-old Afridi has not featured in an international T20 match since March 2025. Following the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to offer opportunities to new players, Afridi's comeback is now being considered in light of preparations for the Asia Cup. His return is also expected to strengthen Pakistan’s pace attack. Shaheen Afridi was given specific instructions by white-ball coach, Mike Hesson, to work on key areas of his game to secure a spot in the team.
Along with Afridi’s potential return, Pakistan is expected to make other changes to the squad for the West Indies series. Fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Hassan Ali are likely to replace Ahmed Daniyal and Abbas Afridi, bringing more experience and firepower to Pakistan’s pace attack.
