Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a Rs 550 million restoration project aimed at reviving Murree’s historic charm and boosting tourism. The initiative focuses on revamping Mall Road, enhancing infrastructure, and preserving heritage sites, ensuring a blend of tradition and modern amenities. A key component of the plan is the restoration of old buildings, maintaining Murree’s architectural heritage while improving cleanliness and aesthetics. The introduction of a Glass Train project, a modern hospital, and public squares aims to elevate the tourist experience and provide better facilities for residents. Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has been appointed to oversee the execution of the project, ensuring a smooth implementation. To enhance the town’s aesthetics, the plan also includes uniform signboards and heritage-style lighting, preserving Murree’s classic appeal while adding a contemporary touch. CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the project is designed to make Murree a top tourist destination without compromising its historic identity. The restoration efforts align with the government’s vision to promote sustainable tourism while safeguarding cultural heritage. With a completion target of one year, this ambitious initiative is expected to transform Murree, making it more attractive and accessible for visitors while improving the quality of life for locals.
