The New Gwadar International Airport commenced operations on January 20, 2025, with the arrival of PIA flight PK-503 from Karachi, carrying 46 passengers. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti attended the milestone event, emphasizing the airport's potential to drive economic growth, boost regional tourism, and enhance international connectivity. Built at a cost of $230 million, the state-of-the-art facility has an annual capacity of 400,000 passengers and is set to become a pivotal hub for trade and tourism in Pakistan.
