How To Turn Home Into Smart Home

How To Turn Home Into Smart Home

Time has changed a lot in past years. Not only are our phones smart, but we can also turn our homes into smart homes. We're starting to see many gadgets and household items come with the built-in feature of WiFi. Our homes and cities could bloom on a connected network where most devices, machines, and objects can be linked to one another to execute tasks automatically.

To understand smart homes first we have to learn about the “Internet of Things” known as IoT. It refers to a network, usually household objects connected to the internet, to other devices and gadgets like smartphones, iPads, or tablets, and to each other. The Internet of Things is a complex network of smart home devices, the Internet, and with us.

The following are some of the most used IoT devices.

Smart Speakers:
Amazon has launched voice-controlled smart speakers that can answer questions, play music, control other smart home devices, set alarms, read the news, and even make hands-free phone calls. For all these tasks you can give the gadget an order or command by your voice.

Automated Lights and Fans:

The automatic lighting system now can be controlled by your mobile phone through an App. The Phillips mobile app controls the lights of your home. Similarly, there are Apps that are connected to your fan, AC or TV which you can easily operate from your smartphone.

Video Doorbells:
The Ring smart doorbell connects to your smartphone through an app that alerts you when someone is at your door, shows you who is at your door, and allows you to video chat with your houseguests when they arrive in your smart home. You can open and shut the door by using your voice or simply using an app installed on your phone.

Healthcare monitoring devices:

Healthcare monitor devices allow you to analyze, report and monitor patient’s health conditions. They enable real-time understanding of a patient's disease state, enabling the provider to make proactive clinical decisions.

These devices help patients to understand their health daily. When patients are engaging with healthcare devices they are more likely to see lasting positive health outcomes.

Some of the devices you can keep track of are a blood pressure cuff, glucometer, pulse oximeter, ECG + Stethoscope, thermometer, and scale.

Micro-mobility:

The IoT is enhancing urban living and lowering carbon emissions, and this is an interesting example. IoT devices that support micro-mobility include last-mile delivery, electric scooters, car sharing, and bike sharing. In this market, technologies that track the location of assets in particular generate significant value.
