ISLAMABAD, Jan 3 — Pakistan Air Force (PAF) successfully test-fired its indigenously developed Taimoor air-launched cruise missile, marking a leap in the country’s defence technology, according to military sources.

The missile, equipped with advanced navigation and guidance systems, can hit land and sea targets at ranges up to 600 kilometres, flying at low altitudes to evade detection. The test demonstrated the system’s accuracy, range, and operational readiness.

ISPR said the trial reflects Pakistan’s commitment to technological self-reliance in defence. Senior military officials, scientists, and engineers were present, highlighting the collaboration between the armed forces and domestic defence research teams.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu praised the engineers behind Taimoor, lauding their “professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities.”

Top national leadership welcomed the success. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the missile’s development as a “milestone for national defence” and a demonstration of Pakistan’s growing technological capabilities.

The Taimoor missile strengthens Pakistan’s conventional deterrence, offering precise, low-altitude strike capability and operational flexibility. Analysts say the test signals a step forward in modernizing the country’s air combat and strategic reach.

With continued investments in indigenous defence technologies, Pakistan is aiming to enhance both deterrence and strategic readiness, showcasing the ability to develop world-class systems domestically.
