Pakistan’s Car Sales Jump 67% in September 2025

Pakistan’s automobile industry recorded a remarkable 67% year-on-year (YoY) increase in car sales during September 2025, reaching 17,174 units, according to data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).

Month-on-month (MoM), sales also rose by 22%, signaling that demand for passenger vehicles is rebounding after a prolonged slowdown.

Economic Stability Drives Market Momentum

Analysts attribute the improvement to lower financing rates, reduced inflation, and a more stable macroeconomic environment.
Consumer confidence has improved, encouraging more buyers to return to showrooms.

During Q1 FY2025-26, total car sales stood at 42,267 units, a 53% YoY growth compared with 27,585 units in the same quarter last year — showing consistent upward momentum across the sector.

Honda and Suzuki Lead Market Growth

Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR)

Honda Atlas Cars posted the sharpest growth among all assemblers, with sales up 82% YoY and 2.15× MoM to 2,307 units in September.

  • Civic and City models rose 73% YoY and 2.8× MoM to 1,977 units.

  • BR-V and HR-V SUV sales climbed 2.6× YoY but eased 12% MoM to 330 units.

Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC)

Toyota, Hyundai, and Sazgar Also Show Gains

  • Indus Motor Company (Toyota): Reported a 33% YoY increase despite minor MoM decline. Corolla and Yaris remained consistent contributors.

  • Hyundai Nishat Motors: Achieved 56% YoY growth driven by the Tucson and Sonata, though month-on-month sales softened slightly.

  • Sazgar Engineering Works (SAZEW): Posted 73% YoY growth, largely supported by strong demand for its Haval H6 PHEV hybrid SUV.

Motorbikes, Tractors, and Heavy Vehicles

  • Motorbikes & three-wheelers: Up 21% YoY and 7% MoM to 158,941 units, showing strong rural demand.

  • Tractors: Down 27% YoY and 21% MoM to 790 units, mainly due to weak farm income and flood effects.

  • Heavy vehicles: Surged 2.6× YoY and 24% MoM to 824 units, marking the highest level in over seven years.

 Outlook: Positive but Cautious

Experts believe that if interest rates remain stable and import restrictions ease, Pakistan’s auto sector could maintain its growth trajectory into 2026.
However, challenges such as currency volatility, policy uncertainty, and supply-chain constraints may still pose risks.

Despite these factors, the 67% jump in September car sales clearly signals a revival in consumer confidence and sets a positive tone for the coming quarters.
