Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif launched a Rs20 billion Ramadan relief package on Saturday, aimed at assisting four million deserving families across Pakistan. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, he emphasized that this initiative would provide much-needed support to nearly 20 million individuals, with the funds distributed within the first ten days of Ramadan. Under this program, each eligible family will receive Rs5,000 through digital wallets, ensuring a transparent and efficient distribution process. The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the reduced inflation in 2025 compared to previous years, highlighting the government's efforts to stabilize prices during the holy month. "This year, Rs20 billion has been allocated for the initiative, a significant increase from last year's Rs7 billion," he stated. He also praised the collaborative efforts of key institutions, including the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), and technology firms, for developing a seamless digital mechanism to ensure smooth fund disbursement. The federal government’s digital distribution system aims to provide relief to families across all regions of the country, reinforcing its commitment to social welfare and economic stability.
