The Government of Pakistan Railways has announced significant upgrades for two major railway stations in Punjab Lahore Junction and Faisalabad Station as part of its modernization drive to improve passenger facilities and operational efficiency.
According to official sources, both stations are undergoing infrastructure renovation, digital system installation, and enhanced security setups to bring them up to international standards. The upgrades include new digital ticketing counters, improved waiting areas, clean restrooms, advanced CCTV surveillance, and solar-powered lighting systems to ensure energy efficiency.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways said that the initiative aims to provide passengers with a comfortable and safer travel experience. The department has also introduced automated information displays and modern signboards to assist travelers with real-time updates.
In addition to passenger convenience, the project focuses on freight handling improvements to boost trade connectivity between Punjab’s industrial hubs and other provinces.
Officials confirmed that the renovations are expected to be completed in phases, with Lahore Junction’s modernization nearing completion and Faisalabad Station’s overhaul scheduled to finish early next year.
The Ministry of Railways stated that this development is part of a broader national plan to revive Pakistan Railways, attract private investment, and strengthen transport infrastructure across the country.
Experts believe that the modernization of these two key stations will not only enhance travel comfort but also promote tourism and economic growth in Punjab.
