South Korean actor Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her home in Seoul on Sunday, nearly two years after stepping away from the public eye following a drunk driving conviction. She was 24.

According to police officials, Kim’s body was discovered by a friend, with no signs of foul play. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death, CNN reported. Kim began her acting career as a child and gained international recognition for her role as a girl abandoned at an orphanage in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, which was featured at the Cannes Film Festival. She later starred in several acclaimed films, including the 2010 action hit The Man from Nowhere, the 2012 thriller The Neighbors, and the 2014 drama A Girl at My Door. However, her career stalled in April 2023 after a Seoul court convicted her of driving under the influence, following a car crash in the capital the previous year. Kim avoided jail but was fined approximately $14,000.
