ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal’s live television interview on Thursday experienced a brief interruption when an unexpected voice was heard saying “shut this down,” causing a short pause, Tribune reported.

The interruption lasted only a few minutes, leaving viewers puzzled. Iqbal returned on air, assuring the audience that “all is well,” and continued his discussion with the host.

The minister later explained that the incident was accidental. “A brief disruption occurred during a live broadcast when someone nearby, unaware I was live, entered my room,” he said in a social media post. According to Iqbal, children entered his study during a family gathering at his Islamabad residence, prompting the short break. He requested that the incident not be politicised.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed Iqbal rejoined the programme without issue. Social media clips sparked speculation, but both the minister and the host confirmed it was unintentional.

The Nation noted that Iqbal thanked viewers for their concern, adding there was no technical or political problem behind the interruption.

The brief incident underlines the unpredictable nature of live broadcasts and was resolved before it could escalate into wider speculation.
