Islamabad, December 26, 2025: Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, arrived in Islamabad today for his first official visit to Pakistan, signaling a major step in deepening Gulf-South Asia relations. According to The Nation, the visit is expected to accelerate bilateral trade, investment, and economic collaboration.

The UAE has long been a key investor in Pakistan’s energy, infrastructure, and finance sectors, and this visit could see new projects and investment pledges. Discussions are expected to cover expanding exports, particularly in agriculture and food products, including meat, which recently gained direct access to UAE markets, Dawn reported.

Officials say the visit could ease Pakistan’s economic pressures by bringing fresh capital and boosting industrial growth, while creating employment opportunities. Sheikh Mohamed is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior ministers to finalize deals and review strategic partnerships.

“This visit strengthens our economic and trade ties with a long-standing partner,” said a Pakistani government official, as cited by Tribune. Both sides aim to make concrete progress on investment projects, energy cooperation, and infrastructure development.

While economic cooperation is the priority, the visit also reflects broader strategic interests, ensuring Pakistan remains closely linked to key Gulf nations. The UAE stands to benefit from greater access to Pakistan’s market and regional connectivity, reinforcing its role as a major regional investor and partner.

Sheikh Mohamed’s visit is seen as a landmark moment for Pakistan-UAE relations, combining diplomacy with business opportunities, and paving the way for stronger Gulf-South Asia economic integration.
