The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan has officially announced the date of Eid-ul-Adha 2025, following the sighting of the moon of Zil Hajj. The joyous occasion, celebrated by millions of Muslims worldwide, will be marked with prayers, sacrifices, and gatherings.

  • Eid-ul-Adha to be celebrated on Monday, June 9, 2025

  • Zil Hajj moon was sighted across several regions in Pakistan

  • Official announcement made after Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting

  • Citizens prepare for Qurbani (sacrifice) of animals

  • One of the most significant festivals in Islam

After an official meeting held by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, it was confirmed that the Zil Hajj moon was sighted on Saturday evening, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Zil Hajj.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) to sacrifice his son Ismail (A.S.) in obedience to Allah’s command.

Instead, Allah replaced his son with a ram — symbolizing faith, obedience, and sacrifice. Muslims around the world honor this occasion by sacrificing animals (Qurbani) and distributing meat among family, friends, and the needy.

With the date confirmed, preparations for Qurbani are in full swing:

  • Cattle markets are bustling across cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

  • People are purchasing goats, cows, and camels for sacrifice.

  • Online Qurbani services have also seen a sharp rise this year.

  • Meat will be distributed to relatives and underprivileged communities.

Eid-ul-Adha is not just a religious event but also a major economic activity in Pakistan:

  • An estimated Rs. 300–400 billion circulates in the economy during this season.

  • Livestock trade and transport businesses thrive.

  • Tailors, bakers, meat processors, and e-commerce platforms witness a sales surge.

  • Special security directives for Eid congregations

  • Increased surveillance around cattle markets

  • Sanitation measures post-Qurbani to ensure cleanliness in urban areas

On Eid morning, special congregational prayers will be held in mosques, Eidgahs, and open fields. Key Sunnahs of Eid include:

  • Taking Ghusl (ritual bath) before prayers

  • Wearing the best clothes (preferably new)

  • Saying the Takbeerat aloud while going to and from prayer

  • Performing Qurbani after Eid prayer

  • Sharing joy with the poor and needy

Eid-ul-Adha is more than a celebration. It’s a reminder of faith, obedience, sacrifice, and sharing. Whether you’re in a bustling city or a quiet village, the core message is the same:

“Love for Allah, care for humanity.”
