Heavy Rain Could Cause Flash Floods in a Large Part of Northeastern Texas
Heavy storms and heavy showers are moving towards the South of the United States, causing concern for the main part of North Texas. Over 16 North Texas counties- including Dallas City- have placed under flood and flash flood by the National Weather Service. For this reason people are being made aware to carry out precaution actions.

Heavy rain and associated flash flooding are expected to bring dangerous conditions, especially on highways and in low-lying areas. Travel is expected to be disrupted, with officials warning people to use extreme caution. Flash flooding is often deadly, and the NWS urges motorists to turn around if they encounter a flooded roadway. The vast majority of flood fatalities occur in vehicles.
Areas Impacted
Red River, Lamar, Fannin, Grayson, Delta, Denton counties, and parts of Collin, Hunt, and Tarrant counties have been included in Flood Watches.
Flash Flood Warnings are active right now for Bosque, Hill, Johnson, Ellis, Kaufman, Dallas, Rockwall, parts of Collin, Hunt, and Tarrant counties.
What to Expect
The heaviest rain is expected through mid-morning Thursday. Forecasters expect scattered areas of 2 to 4 inches of rain, but some places could see up to 7 inches. Flash flood warnings continue for most areas at least through midday Thursday.
Safety Precautions
Residents in the affected areas are advised to:
Not drive through flooded roads. "Turn around, don't drown."
Stay up to date with local news and official weather reports.
Be prepared for power outages and road closures.
If the flooding becomes severe in their area, move to higher ground.
