Japan Airlines & Delta Jets Collide on the Ground at Seattle Airport

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating a collision between a Japan Airlines and Delta Airlines plane at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. in a non-controlled taxiing area, where the Japan Airlines aircraft struck the wingtip of a Delta plane bound for Puerto Vallarta with 142 passengers. No injuries were reported, and passengers were deplaned and accommodated on another flight.

The National Transportation Safety Board is monitoring the situation. This comes amid a series of aviation incidents, including an American Eagle regional jet colliding with an Army Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River last week, killing 67 people. Investigators suspect the helicopter was flying above its permitted altitude. Days later, a medical transport plane crashed in Philadelphia, killing six, including an 11-year-old patient and her mother. In response to recent aviation safety concerns, Elon Musk announced plans to upgrade the air traffic control system, citing a recent FAA system failure. Musk, serving as a special government employee in the Department of Government Efficiency, stated his team would work on the issue.
