Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced plans to take Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s street movement to Sindh and Balochistan after completing a tense political visit to Punjab.

According to Dawn, Afridi’s next phase will focus on mobilising party workers outside Punjab, starting with Karachi. The move comes days after his Lahore tour, which saw strong support from PTI workers but also resistance from the Punjab government.

During the Lahore visit, Afridi faced restrictions, including road closures and limits on gatherings. PTI leaders said supporters were stopped from assembling and showing party flags. Afridi’s team described the situation as an attempt to block political activity.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan later said an inquiry into the events during Afridi’s visit to the assembly would be sent to police for further action.

Despite these hurdles, PTI leaders called the Punjab visit successful. Afridi announced plans for a public rally at Minar-i-Pakistan, though officials have not yet shared a date.

Soon after leaving Lahore, Afridi posted on social media that he would visit Karachi next. The Pakistan Frontier reported that he asked PTI workers in Sindh to get ready, signalling that the party wants to expand its street presence across the country.

Party sources say similar visits are expected in Balochistan, where PTI aims to reconnect with supporters and strengthen its political footing.

The broader campaign comes at a time of growing political tension between PTI and the current governments at both federal and provincial levels. With rallies and street activity expected to increase, Afridi’s tours could shape the next phase of PTI’s political strategy.
