Egg Hurled at Aleema Khan During Press Talk Outside Adiala Jail

A press conference by Aleema Khan, sister of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, took an unexpected turn on Friday when an egg was thrown at her outside Adiala Jail.

Eyewitnesses said Aleema was speaking to journalists about her brother’s legal battle when two women suddenly approached the gathering and hurled an egg in her direction. The incident caused a brief commotion as security personnel and party workers rushed to shield her.

Police officials confirmed that both women were taken into custody shortly after the incident. According to preliminary reports, the suspects were part of a group that had arrived in Rawalpindi earlier in the day to participate in protests over pending demands of government employees.

Video clips of the episode quickly circulated on social media, showing Aleema visibly startled but continuing to maintain composure. She later told reporters that such acts of aggression would not deter her or her family. “We are aware of the risks. These attempts will not shake our resolve,” she said before leaving the area.

PTI workers reacted strongly, surrounding the suspects’ vehicle and pelting it with stones before police intervened. The windscreen of the car was damaged during the altercation, but no serious injuries were reported.

Legal representatives and PTI leaders condemned the assault, calling it a “cowardly attempt to silence” the family of Imran Khan. Lawyer Fida Hussain Abbasi termed the act “shameful” and stressed that it would not affect the ongoing struggle for Khan’s release.

The incident comes at a time of heightened political tension, with Imran Khan’s legal proceedings in the Toshakhana case drawing large crowds of supporters and frequent media attention.
