Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, has greenlit a massive AED 128 billion ($34.85 billion) expansion project for Al Maktoum International Airport.

Set to become the world’s largest airport, it will handle up to 260 million passengers, surpassing Dubai International Airport's capacity by five times. The project will feature 400 terminal gates and five runways, with all operations from Dubai International shifting to Al Maktoum in the coming years. This ambitious move cements Dubai’s position as a global aviation hub and a key player in international travel.
