For the first time in its 1,000-year history, Windsor Castle opened its doors for an open iftar, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to share a meal and celebrate Ramadan. Held inside the State Apartments, this remarkable event was organized by the Ramadan Tent Project in collaboration with the Royal Collection Trust.
Over 360 guests gathered at St George’s Hall, a grand venue typically used for state banquets, making the iftar a special occasion. Attendees included faith leaders, community representatives, and individuals from different walks of life, all united in the spirit of inclusion, reflection, and cultural exchange.
The initiative is part of a UK-wide movement that fosters community, interfaith dialogue, and understanding, highlighting the importance of Ramadan in today’s multicultural society. Guests shared food, prayers, and meaningful conversations, strengthening the message of unity and respect. By hosting an open iftar, Windsor Castle embraced the UK’s rich cultural diversity, setting a powerful example of how historic institutions can play a role in bridging communities and promoting harmony. The event not only honored the traditions of Ramadan but also reinforced the values of tolerance and togetherness in modern Britain.
