Indonesia Decides to Import Buffalo Meat from Pakistan Instead of India

Indonesia has decided to import 100,000 metric tons of water buffalo meat from Pakistan in 2025, shifting from its previous supplier, India. The decision was influenced by Pakistan’s more competitive pricing, making it a favorable choice for Indonesia’s growing demand for meat imports.

The Indonesian government plans to import a total of 180,000 metric tons of beef and buffalo meat next year to meet domestic consumption needs. This move strengthens Pakistan’s position in the global meat market, enhancing trade relations between the two nations. Pakistan had previously supplied 80,000 tons of buffalo meat to Indonesia in 2021, particularly during Ramazan and Eid celebrations, when demand for halal meat significantly rises.
