Panic Grips Citizens as Quetta Shakes in Earthquake

Quetta, Pakistan - Tremors from an earthquake were felt in Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan province, early on Monday, sending shivers down the spines of citizens. Panic gripped many as they rushed out of their homes and recited prayers for the fear of a disaster.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre located in Islamabad has announced that the intensity of the earthquake was 3.7 on the Richter scale. The depth of the quake was observed at 19 kilometers and it was an epicenter 19 kilometers away west of Quetta. Although the tremors were felt, there have been no reports of injuries or damage to property.

The emergency response teams had been put on alert, yet there were no severe incidents which demanded intervention. The local authorities made appeals for residents to calm down and further clarified that the place was in no immediate danger.

Seismic activities are not unfamiliar in Balochistan, as this province is located in an active tectonic zone. According to experts, people should prepare themselves for the aftershocks and be ready for further tremors with all the safety measures in place.

Even as the day began with the terror of tremors, life became normal at Quetta by the end of the day. Officials are still monitoring the situation and assure the citizens that emergency services are on high alert.
