Punjab Brings Free TB Medicines to Patients’ Doorsteps
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz pushes hard to make Punjab TB-free with home delivery of medicines.
March 25, 2026 – On World TB Day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif gave fresh attention to the province’s free medicine doorstep delivery program for TB patients. She said free medicines are now being delivered straight to people’s homes across Punjab, especially for those who find it hard to visit hospitals. The program already covers TB, hepatitis, and heart patients, and has reached thousands so far.
Under this scheme, patients get a full two-month stock of medicines after their regular check-up. Once that batch finishes, health teams come back with the next supply. According to Dawn News, the government says the aim is to remove every barrier so no one misses their doses. Maryam Nawaz stressed that TB is completely curable and treatment is totally free; people just need to come forward and get registered.
The doorstep delivery project was first launched a couple of years ago but got a big restart under the current government. It targets elderly people, bedridden patients, and those living far from big hospitals. The Chief Minister has made it clear she wants Punjab to become the first province in Pakistan to eliminate TB.
If this program keeps expanding smoothly, more and more patients will finish their full course of treatment without any gaps. That could really bring down new TB cases in the coming years. But success will also depend on people getting screened early and completing their medicines. Health officials are hopeful that with strong public awareness and steady delivery vans on the road, Punjab can move closer to its dream of a TB-free province.
