Free Wi‑Fi Now Available in Rahim Yar Khan
Punjab govt expands free Wi‑Fi network to Rahim Yar Khan, adding hotspots at major public locations under CM’s digital connectivity push.

A new free Wi‑Fi network has been launched in Rahim Yar Khan, marking the latest city to benefit from the Punjab government's digital connectivity initiative. The service became active this week and is now available at key public locations, including Adda Khanpur, City Pull, School Bazaar, railway station, Jail Chowk, and Hospital Chowk.
The Wi‑Fi coverage area spans from Dari Sangi to Chak No 72‑PN, ensuring internet access for students, commuters, residents, and visitors across a wide urban stretch. This launch follows the government's broader vision to transform Punjab into a digitally connected province, expanding on more than 270 hotspots already active in 11 districts.
The project is managed by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, which has reported that over 13 million users have connected through the system, consuming more than 265 terabytes of data to date. Prior rollouts have taken place in Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, Attock, Sahiwal, Okara, and Murree.
The goal of the free public Wi‑Fi service is to support daily digital needs like browsing, messaging, and accessing government or public information. However, the service is not intended for video streaming, entertainment, or emergency communication use.
This move is aligned with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's smart city agenda, aiming to bring internet access and digital tools to underserved and growing urban areas across Punjab. Future expansions of the program are already being discussed to cover additional cities and rural hubs.
