Dubai Unveils World’s First AI-Powered Smart Gold Testing Kiosk
Dubai introduces the world’s first AI-driven gold testing kiosk, offering instant purity analysis and boosting transparency in the jewellery trade.

The Dubai Municipality has unveiled the world’s first Smart Gold and Jewellery Testing Kiosk, marking another major milestone in the city’s push for digital innovation.
Launched at GITEX Global 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the state-of-the-art kiosk acts as a fully automated laboratory, capable of testing gold and other precious metals within 60 seconds.
Officials described the system as a first-of-its-kind innovation that combines Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to deliver instant and highly accurate results.
Instant Testing and Transparent Results
Users can analyze the purity of their jewellery by placing it inside the kiosk, which instantly identifies the metal composition — including gold, silver, copper, and zinc — and displays the percentage breakdown.
The results are provided both on-screen and via SMS or printed receipt, similar to ATM transactions, ensuring full transparency for buyers and sellers.
A Dubai Municipality spokesperson said the initiative reflects the emirate’s commitment to enhancing customer confidence and operational efficiency in the gold sector.
“This development enhances transparency, efficiency, and customer satisfaction in the precious metals market,” the spokesperson added.
Transforming Dubai’s Gold Trade
Previously, gold purity verification through the Dubai Central Laboratory could take several days. The new self-service kiosks now provide laboratory-grade accuracy in seconds, offering unmatched convenience for residents, jewellers, and tourists.
Officials said the project would strengthen Dubai’s global reputation as a trusted hub for the gold and jewellery trade.
Strategic Rollout Across Key Locations
As part of Dubai Municipality’s long-term smart services strategy, the kiosks will be installed in major shopping malls and the Dubai Gold Souq, enabling users to verify gold purity on the spot.
The initiative builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) to expand access to testing services across the emirate.
A New Benchmark for Smart Services
By integrating advanced technologies with consumer-focused services, Dubai continues to lead global innovation in the gold industry.
The Smart Gold Testing Kiosk sets a new benchmark for trust, speed, and transparency, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a world leader in smart city transformation and technological excellence.
