Reports from March 11 and 12 confirm that Iran’s new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, sustained several injuries during the start of a US-Israel attack on Iran. The 56-year-old took power after his father, Ali Khamenei, was killed in the same attacks on February 28.

The injuries happened during the opening day of "Operation Roaring Lion." This was a joint mission by the United States and Israel. The strikes hit the leadership compound in Tehran. While Mojtaba survived, the blast killed his father and several other family members. Reports say his mother, wife, and son were among those who died in the explosion.

Sources from the New York Post state that Mojtaba has injuries to his legs. Some reports specifically mention a fractured foot. Mojtaba has not appeared in public since he was named leader around March 8. Officials say this is because he is recovering in a secure location. They also want to protect him from further assassination attempts.

State media in Iran have started to call him a "jaanbaz." This is a term for an injured war veteran. By using this word, the government is admitting he was hurt without giving specific medical details.

Despite his physical injuries, Mojtaba is said to be conscious and in control of the government. He remains in hiding as the war between Iran, Israel, and the U.S. continues. Experts believe he will stay out of the public eye until his wounds heal and the security risk drops.
