Pakistan is making significant strides in expanding its internet connectivity by integrating five international submarine cables, including AFRICA 1, SMW6, 2AFRICA, PEACE, and Makran Gulf Gateway. While 2AFRICA has already reached the country, the remaining cables are still in the planning stages. Alongside this, the government is focusing on satellite-based connectivity by introducing the National Space Policy and Pakistan Space Activities Rules in 2024. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is also developing a Single License framework for Fixed Satellite Services (FSS) to regulate and expand satellite internet access. The Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board (PSARB) is evaluating satellite service provider applications, including Starlink, to enhance internet accessibility, particularly in underserved and remote regions.
