Police have filed multiple terrorism cases against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Saad Rizvi and more than 200 of the party’s leaders following violent clashes with law enforcement in several Punjab districts, including Muridke, Burewala, and Rawalpindi.

According to official sources, the registered First Information Reports (FIRs) include grave charges such as terrorism, attempted murder, robbery, and incitement to violence under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Terrorism Case Filed in Muridke

A major terrorism case was lodged at the City Muridke Police Station against Saad Rizvi, Anas Rizvi, Allama Farooq-ul-Hassan, Maulana Sajjad Saifi, and Mufti Wazir Ali.

The FIR, filed by Sub-Inspector Muhammad Afzal, lists 32 criminal sections including terrorism, murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and robbery. Police officials confirmed that operations are underway to arrest all individuals involved, warning that “no one taking the law into their own hands will be spared.”

Eight Policemen Injured in Burewala Clashes

In Burewala, violent clashes erupted between TLP supporters and the police, leaving eight officers injured, including DSP Headquarters Muhammad Nadeem.

A separate FIR was registered at the Sadar Police Station based on a complaint by Sub-Inspector Khalil Ahmed, naming 14 suspects and nearly 200 unidentified attackers.

The report includes charges of terrorism, attempted murder, and assault on law enforcement personnel. Injured officers were taken to a nearby hospital, while police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused individuals.

New FIR Lodged in Rawalpindi

In another incident, a case was registered at Rawat Police Station in Rawalpindi against 21 TLP leaders, including Saad Rizvi and Qari Bilal, alongside 35 unidentified participants.

The FIR states that during a protest on Chak Beli Road, Jatha Hathial, TLP activists blocked roads, opened fire on police, and snatched government weapons.

According to the complaint by Sub-Inspector Najibullah, the protesters were armed with Kalashnikovs, petrol bombs, and nail-studded sticks. Constable Adnan survived a direct bullet hit due to his bulletproof jacket, while Constable Nazir was beaten and 150 tear gas shells were forcibly taken from security personnel.

Nationwide Crackdown on Misinformation

Meanwhile, security agencies have launched a nationwide operation against individuals spreading false information and hate content on social media platforms including X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and WhatsApp.

Sources revealed that over 200 individuals suspected of managing provocative online campaigns are being monitored. Law enforcement has set up digital tracking cells to identify fake accounts responsible for inciting violence or creating unrest.

Officials emphasized that maintaining law and order is the government’s top priority, with simultaneous raids planned in multiple cities to ensure public safety and prevent further disruption.

Key Takeaways

The fresh wave of FIRs marks an escalation in the government’s stance against TLP’s violent demonstrations, with Saad Rizvi once again under scrutiny for alleged extremist activities. Authorities maintain that the crackdown is part of a broader counterterrorism effort aimed at restoring peace and ensuring that no group remains above the law.
