Santorini Shaken by Strongest Earthquake Amid Ongoing Seismic Activity
The Greek island of Santorini has experienced its most powerful earthquake yet during recent seismic activity in the region. A shallow 5.3 magnitude quake struck on Monday evening, with tremors felt as far as Athens. Since January, over 12,800 earthquakes have been recorded by the University of Athens' Seismological Laboratory. While no injuries have been reported, more than 11,000 people have evacuated Santorini and the nearby island of Amorgos. A state of emergency will remain in place until at least 3 March.
