OGRA, FBR launch ‘Raahguzar’ to combat illegal petrol outlets in Pakistan

In an attempt to digitalize the oil supply line of Pakistan and combat illegal gas outlets, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has teamed up with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) to introduce a mobile app named 'Raahguzar'.

This software runs on Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and attempts to let users throughout the country retrieve current data on legitimate gas stations and fuel services.

Debuting event in Islamabad at the head office of OGRA presented delegates from the Senior Ministry of Energy, FBR, Customs, Explosives Department, and OCAC as well as the Oil Marketing Association of Pakistan. Masroor Khan presided along with the head of finance and energy over the conference.

Masroor Khan stressed in his introductory comments the transformation possibility of this project: "Our road started in August 2024, when talks between OGRA and FBR highlighted the urgent need of digitalizing the oil supply chain. 'Raahguzar' marks the start of a more comprehensive track-and-trace program aimed to increase accountability, stop money leaking, regulate criminal activities, and fortify the integrity of the oil sector.The Raahguzar initiative was created to help people lacking Internet access.By offering comprehensive, accurate data, the scheme guarantees transparency and responsibility in the oil sector.
