Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar, Sindh's provincial sports minister, has stirred controversy by threatening to create a separate cricket board for the province. Speaking at a provincial youth conference, he expressed frustration over the lack of opportunities for Sindh’s cricketers and their exclusion from the national team. Mahar emphasized that cricket is not just a sport for Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, but is equally important in Sindh. He claimed that many talented Sindh players are being ignored despite their merit, which he believes is unfair to the province’s cricketing community.
